I like the smell of old air conditioners
and gardenia flowers
and jasmine tea.
I like finding irony in bland conversation,
running in the rain,
toying with words on paper,
and talking to strangers that know more than I do.
I like the way the city is the most permanent
that humanity can pretend to be,
and that my camera can't capture it.
I like being alone,
I like conversational silence,
and I like adding to my list of things I want to learn.
I don't believe in one-armed hugs,
black and white answers,
or leaving the house without my Listerine.
I fight sameness, oblivion, and vanity in a way that makes me
the same as everyone else, but at least it gives me something
to toy with on paper and talk about with strangers.
